October 31 -November 2.<\/strong><\/p>\n Dia de los Muertos,<\/p>\n Day of the Dead<\/a>,<\/p>\n All Saints Day,<\/p>\n All Souls Day,<\/p>\n Allhallowtide,<\/p>\n Hallowmas.<\/p>\n And of course, Halloween!<\/p>\n A day to pray for and honor\u00a0family and friends who died, especially in Mexico, but\u00a0throughout the world. Traditionally, altars are created, graves visited and cleaned, stories told. Publicly there are parades, art shows, and festivals with altars, costumes, food, and music. Skeleton and skull images<\/a> are abundant. Candles, flowers (marigolds), and food too. It is not always\u00a0sorrowful, but can be filled with joy too. It is a celebration of the circle of life!<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Family Album Hieroglyphics<\/a><\/em> are a series of intaglio prints by Linda C Everson. The inspiration for the art was her children\u2019s stick figures<\/a>, which she embelished with backgrounds of rock art, ancient Native American dwellings, and other natural imagery. This intaglio print\u00a0called Jack be Nimble<\/em>\u2026 references the nursery rhyme Jack be Nimble, Jack be Quick, Jack jumped over the candlestick<\/em> (or pumpkin). It embodies both a spooky and a playful nature. Halloween of course can be both.
