(This message was added in version 6.7.0.) in /home2/lindacev/public_html/blog/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6121A favorite mentor, Antoni Tapies, passed away on February 6, 2012 <\/a>in Barcelona, Spain.\u00a0 Although Whitney Houston\u2019s high profile death headlined all the US media at the time, his\u00a0death was not well heralded here. However,\u00a0Antoni Tapies\u00a0was much more intriguing to me<\/em>!\u00a0 I had visited his\u00a0 Tapies Fundacio<\/a> several times in Barcelona. His art was both quiet and reflective, and also often large and forbidding. It too, could cause much emotion!<\/p>\n His use of graffitti and texture were elements that I admired and use in my own art.\u00a0If you look at his artwork and at mine, your would probably not see many similarites, yet our visions were fairly similar. We both liked surface and texture, both made use of symbols and language in an abstract manner.<\/p>\n
