I just saw a great art show Triggered Momentum<\/em>\u00a0by Sabin Aell, a contemporary photographer<\/a>, at Walker Gallery in Denver. The subject matter was quite unusual\u2026 BATH TOWELS!\u00a0 What also impressed me was her artist statement<\/a>. Sabin had stepped outside and saw a \u201cbizarrely shaped form: a towel\u201d. The towel was frozen and had ice crystals on it; so\u00a0she\u00a0had a \u201cyou know it\u201d moment \u2026 which\u00a0is \u201ctriggered by objects you see\u201d.\u00a0 Sabin immediately knew what was the subject matter for her next art series\u2026. frozen towels.<\/p>\n

The frozen\u00a0towels took on a new form in her artwork. They danced and\u00a0swayed in space,\u00a0vaguely resembling many other things in the eyes of the viewer.\u00a0This transformation of one odd object into something else was quite beautiful. It\u2019s something I also try to do with my Arborglyphs monoprints<\/a>. I see tree bark markings and they become something else. It\u2019s what creativity is about\u2026 seeing and\u00a0transforming. \u00a0The objects you initially see become something else.
